Course Rationale

In today's high pace working environments we are increasingly expected to deliver high quality results on multiple, simultaneous projects whilst keeping to tight and challenging deadlines. Time and personal management skills have never been so important.

This highly practical workshop provides a toolkit of techniques to help you avoid sacrificing quality for quantity or being forced to give up large amounts of personal time in the battle to keep on top of your work.

The programme also focuses on recognising and reducing the effects of work related stress, which has become the single most common reason given for absence days in the UK.

A model of the relationship between workload and stress

Psychologists explain that stress results from a perceived gap between the resources we have available to us (time, skills and experience, as well as physical or financial resources and the demands we are under (our workload).

Using this model, this course focuses on increasing and improving your available resources (in partcicular time and productivity) and controlling and managing your workload to eliminate the gap that leads to stress.

Now, more than ever, it is vital that we develop the skills to manage our workloads effectively and to strike a satisfying balance between our personal and working lives. This course will equip you to take control, minimise stress and transform your efficiency and effectiveness at work.

A Note from the Trainer

"This is a really important area that is often overlooked in the rush to make sales, meet deadlines and wade through backlogs. It's all too easy to feel overwhelmed and lose motivation - which only makes things worse.

"During this course we'll talk about the kinds of ways you could go about handling your workload and dealing with the problem that so many of us seem to be facing these days: to much work and too little time.

"For some people it's about learning how and when to say 'no' to extra work, for others it's about delegating. For many of us it's all about prioritising and knowing where to start. We won't take a one size fits all approach - every situation is different, so here is your opportunity to discuss your particular issues with me and the group. You will leave with a full toolkit of time and personal management techniques that you can apply as soon as you're back in the office."
