  • Your organisation’s reputation and cost effectiveness will benefit from well planned and executed projects.

Course Rationale

Effective project management is critical to the success and reputation of organisations of types and sizes.  Well managed projects drive change, focus activity and provide for robust assessment of success.

Projects cannot be left to chance.  They need to be managed within a clear framework that provides structure, co-ordination, the management of risks and clearly defined goals.

Those with responsibility for managing a project need a range  of skills and techniques to ensure successful outcomes.

Smaller projects often have to be led by managers who need to continue to play their normal role in the organisation.  This can lead to lack of focus and drift.  This introduction to project management course helps avoid this problem.  It is designed to be practical and realistic, and the course handbook contains a wealth of valuable tools and templates that build into a handy desktop reference.

Course Content

  • The principles of project planning and management
  • The development of project plans – simple and detailed planning stages
  • Tools and techniques for analysing and planning projects, including PC planning tools
  • The development of a work breakdown structure
  • Defining critical success factors
  • Risk assessment and management
  • Project monitoring and control
  • Project status communication - the RACI model

A Note from the Trainer

"This is a highly practical introductory project management course, ideal for those having to set up and manage a small project while carrying out their routine duties.  It is firmly rooted in the best project management theory, all of which I have tested in practice.

"The course has been designed to suit those with no formal training in project management, but would also benefit those looking to refresh and update their skills in small practical project management.

"It’s an intensive day, but the time flies by.  Delegates usually find it challenging but great fun.  I’m confident that you’ll find it helpful and empowering."
