Key Benefits of this Course
  • This networking course offers delegates the opportunity to develop the confidence and skills to develop a network of contacts that will increase their working effectiveness, opportunities and profile.
  • The delegate's organisation will benefit from the improved 'connectivity' this network brings, enabling it to reach potential new partners, customers and clients that traditional methods of marketing and business development cannot.

Course Rationale

Networking is a very broad term that could be stretched to cover many kinds of interpersonal interaction. It's all about building mutually beneficial, trusting relationships with a wide range of people in order to develop opportunities, gain access to shared knowledge and to strengthen existing relationships.

Success in employment networking is all about giving as good as you get. You have to share your knowledge, information, and job contacts if you want others to share theirs.

It’s based on trust and familiarity, and inspiring the confidence that will encourage others to refer you to their business associates or colleagues - thus expanding your network further. Such reassurance is critical, because putting the wrong ‘someone’ in touch with a business contact can seriously damage reputations and professional credibility.

For many people the idea of attending an event where they are expected to network is daunting. All those strangers looking to forge new relationships out of thin air. But networking doesn't have to be conducted in a formal way - a chat over a coffee, meeting up with a friend of a friend over lunch or just emailing a new contact to introduce yourself can get you started.

Some people find building and maintaining a 'connection' with someone else in a business context difficult. It feels to forced and informal. But it doesn't have to be this way. This networking course looks at the value of networking in business, how to organise and keep track of your contacts and, importantly, how to break the ice, make small talk and develop positive new relationships with new people. It's focus is practical and the goal of the workshop is to enhance delegates' confidence as much as their skills

A Note from the Trainer

"Building relationships is a key - perhaps THE key -  business skill that anyone should learn if they intend to make an impact in their career. And that's what this course is all about.

"Networking may sound formal, forced and perhaps even a bit mercenary, but it's not. It's all about developing trust, exchanging ideas and contacts and helping each other out. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement that makes everyone's life a bit easier.

"We'll have a really enjoyable day focused on practice and building skills and confidence in a friendly atmosphere. You'll leave feeling ready to go out there and start building a fruitful network right away!"
