 Effective Influencing Skills

Next open course date: 22 July, London, £475+VAT per delegate

Available in-house: Yes, please contact us for details.

20 second overview

Our one day course on Effective Influencing Skills offers colleagues a firm foundation and understanding of everything that is going on under the surface of effective persuasion, including how each person’s style can help and hinder certain scenarios.

Anyone who works with other people will appreciate that there are times when there is a need to get the real buy-in of others, beyond the easy ‘lip service’ that colleagues or customers may offer, how can you get their hearts and minds on board?

This course will take the lid off everything you need to consider to be your influential best, including:

> understanding the dynamics of effective influencing
> knowing how to achieve consistently effective professional relationships
> gaining greater insight into the effects and impact of your personal style
> extending your style by considering choices and options available to you
> exploring tools, skills and strategies that achieve assertive outcomes
> having the opportunity to practice your influencing skills
> dealing with their most difficult influencing challenges
> considering ways to help reduce potential workplace stress and conflict
> planning your future strategies
> feeling confident about your ability to influence successfully every time
> feeling more confident and aware of the ways you are most likely to persuade others

 Key Benefits of this Course
  • Delegates will have the opportunity to acknowledge their preferred communication styles and why it works when it works- and doesn’t when it doesn’t. Duly equipped, they can then consider what further influencing strategies may be useful.
  • Beyond understanding their own style, they get to consider those of their worst nightmares and how they might best plan their next dealings with them in assertive, do-able ways for them.

Course Rationale

Many of us may have progressed through our careers and enjoyed a series of professional relationships without fully appreciating why we have been successful in the ways we have. This workshop allows each person to reflect on why that might be and to know what to do on those infrequent times when our style doesn’t work.

Clearly, the more awareness each person can have about potential influencing techniques and the many tools they can employ to achieve the results they seek will help them to finesse their persuasive abilities.

A Note from the Trainer

"Everyone should attend this course – well, everyone except those who you don’t want to know about all the ways they could influence others more effectively. Although, when we say ‘effectively’ that doesn’t mean steamrollering others to seeing your point of view, rather it’s a way of achieving what works for you, without it being at anyone else’s expense.

"You can learn a great deal in a day - and things that will benefit you beyond those tricky workplace situations – I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t want to attend, but then maybe that’s one of those influencing ploys we will be looking at together if you decide to attend!"
